Sadie Sink Reportedly Cast in ‘Spider-Man 4’—Could She Be the Next Jean Grey?

The Marvel Cinematic Universe may be adding another Stranger Things alum to its roster. According to reports from Hollywood insider outlet Deadline, Stranger Things star Sadie Sink has been cast in Spider-Man 4, the highly anticipated follow-up to 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home.

While details remain under wraps, fans have already launched into wild speculation about Sink’s potential role. The frontrunner? None other than the iconic X-Men mutant, Jean Grey. The red-haired telepath is a crucial character in the Marvel universe, best known for her transformation into the immensely powerful Phoenix. With Marvel Studios recently reclaiming the X-Men from 20th Century Fox and teasing their arrival into the MCU, the possibility of Sink stepping into the legendary role is setting the internet on fire.

Neither Marvel Studios nor Sony Pictures have officially confirmed the Spider-Man 4 cast, but industry insiders claim that discussions are in the final stages. And if history has taught us anything, it’s that leaks like these often turn out to be spot on.

What’s Next for Spider-Man?

The last time we saw Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, he was facing the aftermath of a shattered multiverse in No Way Home, which saw the return of previous Spider-Men Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield. By the film’s end, the world—including his love interest MJ (Zendaya) and best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon)—had completely forgotten he existed, setting up a fresh slate for the upcoming installment.

So where does Sink fit in? If the rumors are true and she is cast as Jean Grey, this could signal a massive shift for the MCU, introducing the X-Men into the franchise before their long-awaited reboot. Of course, there’s always a chance she’s playing a completely different character—perhaps Felicia Hardy, a.k.a. the seductive Black Cat, or even a gender-swapped Harry Osborn. Either way, her fans are eating up the speculation.

As for Holland, he’s currently wrapping up The Odyssey, Christopher Nolan’s next big-screen spectacle. Once that’s in the can, he’s expected to return as everyone’s favorite wall-crawler for Spider-Man 4, which is tentatively slated for release in July 2026.

In addition to her rumored Marvel role, Sink has been making big career moves post-Stranger Things. She recently completed filming the upcoming musical O’Dessa, and is gearing up for her next big project: the Broadway production John Proctor is the Villain, running in New York until June.

While we wait for Marvel or Sony to confirm the news, one thing is certain: if Sink is set to don the red mane of Jean Grey, the MCU’s future just got a whole lot more interesting.
