Riley Keough’s Teenage Rebellion: Prison Calls, Family Drama, and the Presley Legacy

Riley Keough, daughter of rock royalty Lisa Marie Presley and granddaughter of the Elvis, is no stranger to the wild streak that seems to run in her family’s veins. But when she spilled the tea on her younger, more rebellious days during a recent episode of Call Her Daddy, it wasn’t just a story—it was a Presley classic: teenage hijinks, a run-in with the law, and a pissed-off mom on the other end of a prison phone line.

“I had my rebellious moment. She had hers,” Riley shared, reflecting on the shared streak of chaos between her and her late mother, Lisa Marie. Apparently, this particular teenage “moment” landed her in handcuffs.

Riley wasn’t just sneaking out to meet friends or smoking behind the bleachers. No, this was full-on breaking and entering. “I went to a party at my friend’s house,” she explained, “but I didn’t know it wasn’t really my friend’s house. It was a house for sale.” Classic mix-up, right? Party rages, cops show up, most people bolt, but not Riley. “About ten of us got arrested,” she admitted.

Cue the phone call no teenager wants to make: Mom, I’m in prison.

Lisa Marie Presley, a woman who literally grew up in the shadow of Graceland and the celebrity tabloids, wasn’t having it. “She was pissed,” Riley said with a laugh. “She was like, ‘This is on you, girl.’” While Riley’s minor brush with the law stayed out of the papers (a miracle considering her last name), the fallout at home was no joke. Grounded. Hard. For months. And she had to call her mom, who was living it up in Vegas, to come bail her out.

Except Lisa Marie wasn’t about to hop on the next plane. “She was like, ‘I can’t get there,’ so she sent my aunt to come get me,” Riley revealed, shaking her head at the memory.

The irony of it all isn’t lost on Riley. As she told host Alex Cooper, her mother had her own rebellious streak, a legacy Riley seems to have inherited along with the Presley name. “I had a moment as a teenager, and she also did,” she mused.

Looking back, the actress—who’s carved out her own edgy Hollywood niche in films like Zola and Daisy Jones & The Six—seems to view her wild teen years with a mix of humor and nostalgia.

The interview comes just after the two-year anniversary of Lisa Marie’s death, a loss that still reverberates for Riley and her family. To mark the solemn occasion, Riley shared a poignant screenshot of a FaceTime call with her mom, a single heart emoji summing up what words couldn’t.

For Riley Keough, life’s highs and lows seem to carry the same raw, untamed energy that made her family a household name. Rebellious teenage antics, brushes with the law, and family drama? Just another chapter in the Presley saga.
