Megan Thee Stallion and PSY Join Forces for Apple TV+’s K-Pop Competition Show ‘KPOPPED’

Apple TV+ is doubling down on the music game, and this time, they’re bringing some serious firepower. Megan Thee Stallion—hip-hop’s reigning hot girl—and K-pop’s original viral king, PSY, are set to headline KPOPPED, an eight-episode battle royale where Western music titans will rework their biggest bangers alongside some of K-pop’s finest idols. Picture “Savage” meets synchronized perfection, “Gangnam Style” with a futuristic facelift—this is global pop culture on steroids.

The show’s premise? Take an iconic Western hit, inject it with K-pop’s meticulous production, precision choreography, and a Seoul-based live audience, then let the people decide who walks away as the ultimate crossover champ. It’s East meets West in the best way possible—loud, flashy, and ready to break the internet.

Megan isn’t just a pretty face on the mic; she’s also an executive producer on the show, putting her stamp on this cultural collision. She’ll also take the stage herself, delivering a fresh, K-pop-infused rendition of her Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 hit, “Savage.” Alongside her, music legend and American Idol judge Lionel Richie joins the executive producer squad, alongside Moira Ross, Miky Lee, Greg Foster, Harry H.K. Shin, and Jake Hong. CJ ENM Co., Ltd. producer Ki-woong Kim will oversee production, with Eureka Productions (a Fremantle company) bringing their TV magic to the mix.

For Apple, this is the latest in a string of music-centric plays, following the short-lived 2023 country music contest My Kind of Country (co-created by Reese Witherspoon and Kacey Musgraves) and last year’s K-Pop Idols, a six-part docuseries tracking the rise of acts like BLACKSWAN, Jessi, and CRAVITY. But KPOPPED is swinging for the fences—bigger stars, higher stakes, and a concept that practically screams viral gold.

No word yet on when KPOPPED will hit screens, but in the meantime, Meg is keeping busy. She’s set to light up the invite-only FanDuel/Spotify Super Bowl party on Friday, February 7, alongside Blink-182 and DJ Pee .Wee (aka Anderson .Paak), before Kendrick Lamar takes over the halftime show on Sunday, February 9.

One thing’s for sure—when this show drops, expect the internet to explode. And maybe, just maybe, we’ll get a “WAP”-meets-K-pop moment. The world isn’t ready, but we’ll be watching anyway.
