The gloves are off, and Jax Taylor is coming out swinging. The former Vanderpump Rules bad boy is airing out the raw details of his split from Brittany Cartwright, proving once again that no Hollywood breakup is complete without a little drama.
During an explosive appearance on Bravo’s Hot Mic podcast, Taylor, 45, made it clear—he wasn’t the one left in the dust. According to him, he pulled the trigger first.
“The second weekend of rehab, I emailed Brittany and said, ‘I’m getting a mediator,’” Taylor revealed, flipping the narrative on the high-profile divorce. “People don’t realize that I’m the one who initiated this.”
But Brittany wasn’t about to let Jax have the last word. “So when I emailed her and got a mediator, I put that in the email, and she responded, ‘Oh no, I’m getting a divorce lawyer.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, whatever,’” Taylor recalled. Three days later, she officially filed.
“I think she wanted to be the first one to serve me papers publicly,” Taylor said, suggesting Brittany saw an opportunity to take control of the narrative while he was in rehab. “She wanted to be the first to publicly say, ‘I’m divorcing him,’ when, in all honesty, I was the one that initiated it.”
For those who need a refresher, Jax and Brittany tied the knot on June 29, 2019, in a star-studded reality TV wedding. In April 2021, they welcomed their son Cruz into the world. Fast forward to 2024, and it’s all fallen apart—except for one lingering connection: co-parenting their three-year-old.
“Schedules right now are tough because we’re both very busy, both got a lot going on,” Jax admitted. “Once we get that figured out, I think it will be great. I live literally five minutes from her, so we try to help each other out as much as we can. I try to help her out as much as I can. I do as much as I can do, as much as she allows me.”
